World Cup 2022: Midfielder Mario Gotze returns to Germany squad for first time in five years

Eintracht Frankfurt's Goetze, 30, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, has not played for Germany since a friendly against France in November 2017.
Bayern Munich teammates Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller will be playing in their fourth World Cup.
Youssoufa Moukoko, Borussia Dortmund's 17-year-old striker, is also included.
Moukoko and Werder Bremen's Niclas Fullkrug, who has scored 10 goals in 13 Bundesliga games this season, have both been called up for the first time.
Defender Mats Hummel, who played at the last two tournaments, has been left out by manager Hansi Flick, while Dortmund captain Marco Reus misses out on another World Cup with an ankle injury.
RB Leipzig's Timo Werner, formerly of Chelsea, is also out after suffering an ankle injury earlier this month that will keep him out until 2023.
Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan and Chelsea forward Kai Havertz are included in the squad, along with West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer and Southampton center-back Armel Bella-Kotchap.
Germany kick off their World Cup campaign against Japan on 23 November before facing Spain and Costa Rica in Group E.
They are set to play a warm-up game against Oman on 16 November.

Hajime Moriyasu announces Japan squad for World Cup

 Head coach Hajime Moriyasu announced his 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, putting his faith in a largely established core of players but omitting several of Japan’s top standouts in European competitions as well as longtime Samurai Blue veterans. The announcement of Japan’s squad for the quadrennial tournament has occasionally produced surprise selections and shock omissions, and Tuesday’s was no different with midfielder Genki Haraguchi and forward Yuya Osako, both of whom appeared at the previous World Cup in Russia, left off the list.  Brazil coach Tite on Monday named his 26-man World Cup squad for Qatar, including 39-year-old defender Daniel Alves while leaving out Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as the five-times champion prepare for the tournament starting on November 20. Aston Villa attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is one veteran who didn’t make the list after sustaining a thigh injury in training over the weekend that will sideline him for several weeks.
